Elizabeth Martin brings to KMC LLP her experience in independent film and entertainment, nonprofit law, and general corporate transactional work.

​In addition to legal work, Elizabeth is also a film producer who executive produced the Academy Award winning, live-action short film, THE NEIGHBORS’ WINDOW (2019). She also produced the feature documentary POINT AND SHOOT (2014), which won Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival, among other awards. She continues to produce through Wild Violet media.

​From 1999 - 2010, Elizabeth founded and served as Executive Director of WomensLaw.org, a national nonprofit providing state-specific legal information and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, serving millions each year. In 2010, she successfully steered the nonprofit through a merger with the National Network to End Domestic Violence, where both programs continue to thrive. As a groundbreaking project, one of the first to use the internet as a place to provide legal information and personal support online, Elizabeth and WomensLaw.org received many awards, including the Peace Award from Doris Buffet's The Sunshine Lady Foundation (2004), the Mary S. Byron Celebrating Solutions Award (2005), a Webby Award for Best Legal Website (2009), the Mary S. Byron Project Award for Excellence (2021). Elizabeth has been profiled in several articles and books on social change and philanthropy, including Giving 2.0 (2011).

​Elizabeth also serves on several North Carolina nonprofit boards, is a Trustee Emerita of Queens University of Charlotte, and volunteers with asylum-seeking families.

Elizabeth graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Comparative Area Studies: Western Europe and the Middle East and from University of North Carolina College of Law with a J.D.

Elizabeth is a member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bar and licensed only in North Carolina.
